OpenAxess is led by a dedicated Executive Committee and supported by volunteers who contribute their time, skills, and ideas to advancing our mission. Our team works collaboratively across different areas of the organisation, with each role contributing to the development, sustainability, and impact of OpenAxess.

Michelle Jaramba:
Founder & Chairperson
Provides overall leadership and strategic direction for OpenAxess, oversees the organisation's development and represents its mission and values.
Liesl de Jager
Secretary
Supports the administration and governance of OpenAxess, maintains organisational records, coordinates meetings and assists with internal communication.
Amukelani Maserumule:
Outreach & Fundraising Lead
Leads outreach, fundraising, and resource mobilisation efforts, while developing relationships with potential partners, donors, and other external stakeholders.
Monica Ndhlovu
Training & Development Lead
Leads volunteer onboarding, training and development initiatives, helping volunteers understand their roles and develop the skills needed to contribute effectively.
Uphile Mvunge:
Marketing & Communications Lead
Manages OpenAxess' public communications, social media, branding and digital presence while communicating the organisation's work and impact.

Our Task Teams
Our task teams carry out our daily activities and development programmes. Each task team is headed by an Executive Committee member who serves as its Team Lead:

Training & Development Task Team (Led by Monica Ndhlovu)
Operations Task Team (Currently recruiting Team Lead)
Technology & Refurbishment Task Team — (Currently recruiting Team Lead)
Finance Task Team (Currently recruiting Team Lead/ Tresurer)
How Our Teams Work:
The Executive Committee provides overall leadership and governance. Volunteers join these task teams and contribute under the guidance of their respective Team Lead, collaborating across teams when projects overlap.
